The car’s story
The Pagani Zonda C12 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999. It was named after a wind that blows in the Andes. In 2000, the supercar received a more powerful engine and the revised C12 S designation. It was automotive designer Horacio Pagani’s first independent creation. The Zonda was created in honour of legendary Argentine Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio, whose involvement led to the use of Mercedes AMG twelve-cylinder engines.
The supercar’s foundation was a Lamborghini Miura platform sourced from Dallara. Its AMG-developed 7,291 cc V12 produces 555 hp at 5,900 rpm. Peak torque of 750 Nm arrives at 4,050 rpm, top speed does not exceed 335 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 3.7 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive Pagani Zonda has no electronic driving aids apart from ABS. Pagani Automobili produces no more than 18 cars a year, each unique and individually specified to meet its buyer’s requirements. Such a supercar costs at least €500,000.
