The car’s story
The T-90 has composite shell-resistant armour on the hull sides, front and turret, plus integrated Kontakt V explosive reactive armour. Its code designation was Object 188K. Uralvagonzavod’s design bureau began work on 4 April 1991 under instructions from the USSR State Military-Industrial Commission. The tank entered service on 3 June 1994.
Engine: V-84MS: multi-fuel V12 diesel with liquid cooling and a mechanically driven centrifugal supercharger, 840 PS at 2,000 rpm.
Crew: 3; combat weight: 46.5 tonnes. Maximum speed: 60 km/h; range: 700 km.
Main armament: A 125 mm 2A46-2 gun; a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun; a 12.7 mm NSVT anti-aircraft machine gun; twelve 81 mm smoke-grenade launchers.
Ammunition: 43 gun rounds; 2,000 rounds of 7.62 mm; 300 rounds of 12.7 mm.
