Moskvich 2140

Passenger car from 1976. Manufactured by Moskvich (USSR).

Replacing the Moskvich-412, this car received not only new exterior body panels and interior trim, but also front disc brakes, a two-mode lighting signal system, and seats with head restraints and seat belts. Alongside the basic saloon model (pictured), produced since February 1976, several variants are manufactured: the Moskvich-2137 estate (since February 1976), the Moskvich-214S6 for rural areas (since January 1979), and the Moskvich-214S3 with hand controls (since October 1979). Figures that differ for the 214S6 variant are shown in brackets.

Moskvich 2140 production began in 1976 (1979); wheel configuration: 4×2; engine: 4 cylinders, displacement 1478 cm³, output 75 (68) hp at 5800 rpm; valve gear: OHC; fuel: AI-93 (A-76) petrol; number of gears: 4; tyre size: 6.45×13 (6.95×13) inches; length: 4250 mm; width: 1550 mm; height: 1480 mm; wheelbase: 2400 mm; kerb weight: 1080 kg; top speed: 140 (130) km/h; acceleration from rest to 100 km/h: 19 (26) seconds.
