The car’s story
The comfortable 1936 Chrysler Airflow sedan was the final model in the Airflow series. The range's story began in 1934, after Chrysler built a wind tunnel. Carl Breer is credited with the ‘airflow’ concept. In practice, sales were very low because buyers found the car's styling too unconventional.
Its distinctive features included headlights integrated into the wings, a straight-eight engine, a curved windscreen, an automatic transmission and low door sills. The engine was economical, as demonstrated by an average consumption of 6.83 litres per 100 km recorded during a journey across the United States.
