The car’s story
The Ferrari 250 GT was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 1959. Officially named 250 GT berlinetta passo corto, it is also known as the 250 GT SWB, for short wheelbase. Pininfarina built its grand-touring body. Around 200 cars were assembled between 1959 and 1962. The Berlinetta passo corto is considered the last model offered in both road and racing versions.
Depending on tuning, engines produced from 240 to 280 or 293 hp. The V12 had two valves per cylinder and was mounted longitudinally at the front. It used conventional rear-wheel drive and a gearbox with four forward speeds plus reverse. Weighing 1,000 kg, its top speed did not exceed 250 km/h.
