GAZ-69A Auto Legends of the USSR

The GAZ-69A off-roader is the direct successor to the legendary GAZ-67B. The brief for a new four-wheel-drive vehicle was issued in 1947. The military set particular requirements: the jeep had to tow artillery pieces weighing up to 800 kg and carry large machine guns, ammunition trailers, 82 mm mortars and their crews.

The first production GAZ-69 left the assembly line in 1953. These vehicles were built in Gorky for only three years. Production was transferred to UAZ from 1955. In 1968 the model was modernised and received the 69A designation. Over 20 years of manufacture at UAZ and GAZ, 250,728 off-roaders were assembled.
