GAZ-A-Aero 1934

The GAZ-A-Aero was created by designer Alexey Osipovich Nikitin as part of his research into automobile streamlining. A single prototype was built in 1934, and its subsequent fate is unknown.

Its metal-clad wooden-framed body had an unusual streamlined shape. Fairings covered the rear wheels, the headlights were almost half-recessed into the body, and the windscreen was V-shaped.

The GAZ-A-Aero used a modified 3,285 cc engine. An aluminium cylinder head raised the compression ratio from 4.15 to 5.45. Compared with the standard GAZ-A, output increased from 39 hp at 2,300 rpm to 48 hp at 2,600 rpm. Top speed was 106 km/h and average fuel consumption 12 litres per 100 km.
