The car’s story

The bold, purposeful Aston Martin V8 Vantage was conceived as a direct rival to Porsche sports cars. Development of the coupé began after Aston Martin came under Ford’s ownership. The first prototype, codenamed AMV8, was shown at the 2003 Detroit Motor Show. Its design was developed by Danish designer Henrik Fisker, who had previously shaped the DB9 and Vantage.

The V8 Vantage became the first hatchback in Aston Martin’s range. This slightly increased luggage space and made it easier to access. Entry to the cabin also featured an unusual solution: the door handles extended outwards only after being pressed.

Under the bonnet was a 32-valve, 4.3-litre V8 producing 358 hp at 7,300 rpm. It enabled a top speed of 280 km/h and acceleration to 100 km/h in 5 seconds.

The scale model shown is simplified, although its front and rear lights are made of glass. There are paint defects, particularly noticeable on the silver window surrounds. Nevertheless, it retains the original car’s main contours and fully conveys its shape and styling.
