The car’s story
A landau or landaulet body has a roof that opens above the rear seating rows. The C-24 series was produced for nine years, with 347 cars built: 285 open torpedos, 17 limousines, 14 landaulets, 10 double phaetons and 21 with other bodies. One Russo-Balt C24-30 landaulet entered the Imperial Garage. Other examples belonged to well-known figures including Andrey Nagel, editor of Avtomobil magazine, banker Alexander Putilov and shipbuilder Konstantin Boklevsky.
Before 1910, the Russo-Balt C24-30 used different tyre sizes at the front and rear: 870×90 and 880×120 respectively. This accommodated the higher load on the rear tyres, but required two spare tyres of different sizes to be carried at all times. The issue was resolved only in 1911, when both front and rear tyres became 880×120 mm.
