The car’s story
Ferrari introduced the Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Show. Pininfarina created its design, including the innovative large side grilles that suited the low-slung body and became its signature feature. Throughout its eight-year production run ending in 1992, approximately 1,100 Testarossas left the factory each year.
The sports car had a five-litre flat-twelve engine with two injectors and digital ignition. It produced 390 hp at 6,300 rpm, while the Testarossa’s top speed did not exceed 290 km/h.
The model shown has only one rear-view mirror, on the driver’s side, identifying it as an early-production car. The mirror sat a short distance from the body on slender supports, as required by the aerodynamic engineers. Later, a matching passenger-side mirror became available at extra cost.
Overall, the model’s body shape resembles the real Testarossa and fully conveys its distinctive character. The front and rear lights are plastic; the rear lights are faintly painted, with poorly defined boundaries between the sections. The interior is finished in a single colour, and there are no brake discs.
