The car’s story
Spyker began a new chapter in its history in 2000 with the introduction of the C8 Spyder. Five years later, the C12 replaced the original model. This open roadster immediately attracted wealthy car enthusiasts worldwide. It received not only a new engine but also a revised rear end that improved aerodynamics. Spyker’s engineers also strengthened the chassis and revised the suspension and brake-system settings.
From the outside, the C12 Spyder could be likened to a fighter aircraft on a racetrack. Inside, it offers unmistakable luxury with aircraft-style controls. Its structure is based on an all-aluminium chassis.
The Spyker C12 Spyder has a 48-valve W12 sourced from Audi. Its figures are impressive: six litres and 500 hp at 6,100 rpm, with output deliberately limited by the manufacturer. Peak torque of 650 Nm arrives at 1,600 rpm. Speed is capped at 325 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds.
The 1:43 scale model has numerous shortcomings. First is its body shape, which makes its relationship to real Spyker supercars difficult to recognise. The rear lights are simplified, there are paint defects, and excess glue is visible beneath the misaligned front lights.
